SOURCE

Our Raw Manuka Honey UMF™ 20+ is produced by bees collecting nectar from the native Manuka plant, a scrubby tree that is abundant across New Zealand and is well known for its unique properties. These unique properties have led Raw Manuka Honey UMF™ 20+ to be one of the most researched honeys in the world. The small white flowers of the Manuka tree bloom during spring and summer in New Zealand and this is the time of year when the bees collect the nectar and produce the honey.

MONOFLORAL

Monofloral Manuka honey is considered the highest quality Manuka honey. It is difficult to source making it extremely rare and special. Monofloral Manuka honey is honey that comes from the nectar of only the Manuka flower. Manuka honey that is classified as a monofloral Manuka honey has a UMF™ grading of UMF™ 5+ or higher.

TASTE

New Zealand Honey Co. Raw Manuka Honey UMF™ 20+ is a complex honey with a herbaceous flavour that has undertones of caramel, with a clean fresh finish and a moderately bitter taste. This honey has a very smooth, pleasant texture; thick, almost chewy and fudge-like consistency. The honey can range from being a dark cream in colour to a dark brown, and anything in between.

BEST USES

Our Raw Manuka Honey is great as a spread on nutty bread and adds a rich complexity to savoury sauces and marinades. Raw Manuka Honey can also be eaten straight off the spoon or added to drinks. Add this honey to a smoothie for a natural sweetener, or drizzle over your yoghurt and muesli.

ABOUT UMF
& MGO

What is UMF™?

UMF™ (Unique Manuka Factor) is a highly-respected grading system that guarantees you genuine, unadulterated natural Manuka Honey. All our Manuka Honey is tested by an independent third party and, at a minimum, meet the standards set by the UMF Association and the New Zealand Government.

Understanding UMF™ vs MGO vs K-Factor:

  • UMF™ is the highest testing standard for any honey worldwide. UMF testing measures these key elements - Leptosperin, DHA, HMF and Methylglyoxal (MGO) which all mark a high-quality Manuka Honey.
  • MGO measures Methylglyoxal (MG) but not Leptosperin which classifies genuine Manuka honey.
  • K-Factor focuses on the pollen count of the honey and does not measure the Methylglyoxal (MGO) of the Manuka honey.

New Zealand Honey Co. is a member of the UMF™ Association and all our honey is tested and measured to the UMF grading standard.

Our head beekeeper talks through what to look for when purchasing Manuka Honey.

This is a must have for all gardeners!!

I am amazed at how incredible this was for healing my wound. I am always out in my garden and was pruning a shrub in my driveway with my new secateurs. As it was just a quick job I wasn't wearing my gloves, which in hindsight was a silly idea. I cut my thumb quite badly. I ran inside, rinsed it and covered it up before putting gloves on and going back out to the garden. For the afternoon I was moving soil and replanting some bulbs. About 2 days after, my wound became very infected and sore. I am not one for antibiotics so I used a mixture of detol in hot water and iodine to disinfect the wound, which relieved some pain but it didn't seem to be healing. I had heard about Manuka honey but didn't realise the incredible healing benefits of it. My friend had just bought a jar of the New Zealand UMF 20+ Manuka honey and she gave me some to put on my wound. She uses Manuka honey for everything! I applied it to the wound after a shower in the evening and covered with a gauze bandage so it wouldn't rub off on my sheets. The next morning the redness had gone and it was extracting the infection. It was truly incredible! After 3 days of using it, the wound was nearly healed. It was almost unbelievable. I was very thankful to my friend who let me try and to New Zealand Honey Co for producing a magnificent Manuka honey! I bought my own jar as I feel it is a necessity in everyone's lives. You never know when you might need a natural antibiotic. Thank you so much.

    Amazing at healing

My son has had a sore that would not heal. We've tried a bunch of different things and decided to have been suggested to try this brands Manuka honey from New Zealand. We applied the honey and covered it with a bandage and the wound was much better by the morning, it is quite amazing how much it has helped and how fast!
