FAQ's:

What do UMF™ and MGO mean — and how do they relate?

UMF™ stands for Unique Manuka Factor — it's an independent certification system that tests Manuka honey for authenticity across key markers including MGO, DHA, HMF and leptosperin. MGO (methylglyoxal) is one of the naturally occurring compounds that makes Manuka honey special — the higher the number, the greater the concentration. In short: UMF™ tells you it's real, MGO tells you how potent it is.

How do I know this Manuka honey is genuine?

Every batch is independently tested and certified under the UMF™ grading system. Scan the QR code on the lid of your jar to view the UMF™ certificate and trace exactly where in New Zealand your honey came from.

Is UMF™ 15+ considered strong? Who is it best for?

UMF™ 15+ is our mid-tier grade with MGO 514+ — a noticeable step up from UMF™ 10+, while still versatile enough for everyday use. It's a popular choice for those who want a bit more from their daily Manuka honey without jumping to the higher-potency grades.

What's the difference between UMF™ 15+ and UMF™ 10+ or 20+?

It's all about potency. UMF™ 10+ has MGO 263+, UMF™ 15+ has MGO 514+, and UMF™ 20+ has MGO 829+. Each step up means a higher concentration of naturally occurring compounds from a more selective harvest.

Why is UMF™ 15+ more expensive than UMF™ 10+?

Higher UMF™ grades occur naturally in smaller quantities during harvest and must meet stricter certification thresholds. That means more rigorous testing and less honey available at this level — which is reflected in the price.

How much should I take and how do I use it?

Most people take ½ to 1 teaspoon a day. Enjoy it straight from the spoon, stir it into warm (not boiling) water or tea, drizzle it over yoghurt or oats, or blend it into smoothies.

Why has my honey crystallised or looks different from my last jar?

Crystallisation is completely natural and doesn't affect quality — just warm the jar gently in lukewarm water to soften it. And if your honey looks or tastes a little different to your last jar, that's normal too. Natural variation happens between harvests, but the certification and potency remain consistent.

Is this honey raw?

Yes — 100% raw. Nothing is added or removed at any stage of production. What you get is pure Manuka honey, exactly as it exists after extraction from the hive.
