International bestselling UMF™ Manuka Honey

SOURCE

Our Raw Manuka Honey UMF 15+ is produced by bees collecting nectar from the native Manuka plant, a scrubby tree that is abundant across New Zealand and is well known for its unique properties. These unique properties have led Raw Manuka Honey UMF 15+ to be one of the most researched honeys in the world. The small white flowers of the Manuka tree bloom during spring and summer in New Zealand and this is the time of year when the bees collect the nectar and produce the honey.

MONOFLORAL

Monofloral Manuka honey is considered the highest quality Manuka honey. It is difficult to source making it extremely rare and special. Monofloral Manuka honey is honey that comes from the nectar of only the Manuka flower. Manuka honey that is classified as a monofloral Manuka honey has a UMF™ grading of UMF™ 5+ or higher.

TASTE

New Zealand Honey Co. Raw Manuka Honey UMF 15+ is a complex honey with a herbaceous flavour that has undertones of caramel, with a clean fresh finish and a moderately bitter taste. This honey has a very smooth, pleasant texture; thick, almost chewy and fudge-like consistency. The honey can range from being a dark cream in colour to a dark brown, and anything in between.

BEST USES

Our Raw Manuka Honey is great as a spread on nutty bread and adds a rich complexity to savoury sauces and marinades. Raw Manuka Honey can also be eaten straight off the spoon or added to drinks. Add this honey to a smoothie for a natural sweetener, or drizzle over your yoghurt and muesli.

ABOUT UMF
& MGO

What is UMF™?

UMF™ (Unique Manuka Factor) is a highly-respected grading system that guarantees you genuine, unadulterated natural Manuka Honey. All our Manuka Honey is tested by an independent third party and, at a minimum, meet the standards set by the UMF Association and the New Zealand Government.

Understanding UMF™ vs MGO vs K-Factor:

  • UMF™ is the highest testing standard for any honey worldwide. UMF testing measures these key elements - Leptosperin, DHA, HMF and Methylglyoxal (MGO) which all mark a high-quality Manuka Honey.
  • MGO measures Methylglyoxal (MG) but not Leptosperin which classifies genuine Manuka honey.
  • K-Factor focuses on the pollen count of the honey and does not measure the Methylglyoxal (MGO) strength of the Manuka honey.

New Zealand Honey Co. is a member of the UMF™ Association and all our honey is tested and measured to the UMF grading standard.

Our head beekeeper talks through what to look for when purchasing Manuka Honey.

Really good quality honey

Really good quality honey. I bought the UMF 15+ for its medicinal properties. My teenage daughter makes a paste with normal baking flour and Manuka UMF 15+ and applies this to the acne affected areas on her face and keeps this on for about 5 to 10 minutes. The honey definitely reduces redness and inflammation, heals blemishes faster too. We've progressed to using it on Mozzie bites as well, itch relief is almost instantaneous. Also, lovely tasting honey.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • I have open sores that will not heal. Is the 15 have enough medical properties to help heal?

The MG/NPA properties in our Raw Manuka Honey UMF™ 15+ are considered high enough for topical and healing use. We recommend applying the Manuka honey directly to the open sore and covering with gauze or a bandaid with holes so the affected area can breathe.

  • Is the jar a safe rated plastic free of toxicity and or BPA?

Thank you for your question. Yes, all of our honey jars are BPA free and are a safe rated plastic free of toxicity.

  • Is the raw manuka honey undergone filtration process during the extraction from the beehives?

Thanks for your question.  Our honey is not filtered, but rather it goes through a centrifugal process to separate the honey from any particulars in it (i.e. wings, etc).  The honey we sell has all its original enzymes and pollens.
